The cost per hire formula
CPH = (Internal recruiting costs + External recruiting costs) ÷ Number of hires. Internal costs include recruiter salaries, hiring-manager time, ATS/HRIS tools and referral bonuses. External costs cover job-board postings, agency fees, sourcing platforms, assessments, background checks and onboarding swag.
